CCAD Senior Fashion Show

It’s about talent and looks – runway looks, that is. And the CCAD Senior Fashion Show is just the place to showcase it. The 25 year long show has come a long way from its days in the 90’s, mainly thanks to Limited Brands who approached the college about making the event bigger (and open to the public). Since then, it’s evolved into a must-attend event in Columbus, as well as a fundraiser for general scholarships.

CCAD’s top talent will be on display at this year’s May 8th show. There will be 21 designers with 72 looks on the runway. The designers have been working on their collections since last spring and each of them has come up with an individual theme that was used as a jumping off point for their collections. Also, this year there’s a wide array of styles and categories, like swimwear, lingerie, evening wear, and children’s wear.Image 3

Plus, everything that makes it onto the runway has been made by the students, including accessories (leather handbags, 3-D printed sunglasses and jewelry, hats), sweaters, and print fabrics.

But what trends can you expect to see at the show? According to Suzanne Cotton, Dept. Chair, Fashion Design at CCAD, the runway will feature:

  • Technology used in the fabrications
    • 3-D printer, laser cutter, and digital fabric printers
  • Flower power prints
  • Bright bold colors and prints
  • Embellishments
  • Textured knits
  • Sporty minimalism
  • Kimono and cape looks

Cotton also said to expect 70’s inspired jewelry, fringe bags, and hats as key accessory elements in the lines.

But while the show is at the center of the evening, the pre- and post-show parties also make the whole night into a fun celebratory event. This year, there’s the Après-Runway Dance Party (which immediately follows the Runway Show). Rainer Zeihm from s77 will be DJing and along with the music, guests will enjoy complimentary food and beverages, plus get the opportunity to mix and mingle with the student designers and models before the event wraps up at 11PM.

Tickets will be offered as a general admission ticket which includes standing-room admission to the runway show and admission to the Après-Runway Dance Party ($125). Or you buy a VIP ticket which includes VIP parking, admission to the VIP pre-show reception, reserved seating at the runway show, complimentary bar all evening (including both pre- and post-show parties), and admission to the Après-Runway Dance Party with exclusive access to the VIP lounge ($350).

If you’re ready for night of fashion, fun, and frivolity, get your tickets to the 2015 CCAD Senior Fashion Show. Information on the May 8th event, at the CCAD Design Studios on E Broad St. can be found on their website: www.ccad.edu/events-2015/sfs-2015.
