Robison: In late 2006 I quit my job to stay at home with our first child and our household income was cut in half. I spent the next two years doing research on how to live well on less.  When I was forced to pay attention, I was amazed at how much money I had been wasting. One of the most important things I learned was that I didn’t really have to change WHAT I was buying but HOW I was buying it. As I got better at finding deals, I wanted to share them with everyone!

Cbus Chic: Where do you find most of your coupons?

Robison: I find the majority of my coupons on the web and in the Sunday newspaper. Some of my favorite, legitimate printable coupon sites are:

Cbus Chic: What helpful hints do you have for readers on finding coupons?

Robison: You can find coupons everywhere! Keep an eye out in magazines, on or in product packaging, on Facebook, on store websites (Target, Meijer) and on your favorite manufacturer’s website. If you like a product, be sure to let the manufacturer know! Sometimes they’ll send you coupons in the mail as a thank you for sharing your feedback.

Another tip is to never shop online without searching for a coupon code first! One of my favorite sites to use for finding online coupon codes is Savings.com.

Cbus Chic: How do you stay organized when couponing?

Robison: Coupon organization is an ongoing battle. I share some tips on how to organize coupons in my blog post here. Currently I find that filing my coupon inserts in a binder and clipping as I go works best for me. I use the envelopes that come with my bills (that I pay online) to sort my coupons by store. I only take the coupons that I plan to use for each shopping trip with me vs. carrying all of them with me. I would be tempted to spend more money if I had all of my coupons with me.

Cbus Chic: How much would you say a household could save a year by using coupons?

Robison: I feel that the average household can save at least 25% per year on their grocery and household purchases using coupons. For those who are really serious about saving money, that figure is likely much higher and closer to 50%.

Cbus Chic: How often do you upload your blog?

Robison: My blog is updated anywhere from 5-15 times per day, depending on the season and how great the deals are. Back to School and Christmas are my busiest times of year!

Cbus Chic: What should readers be looking forward to in the future with couponing and your blog?

Robison: Currently I am working to implement a new coupon match up system for the Grocery and Drug Stores that I cover (Kroger, Target, Meijer, Giant Eagle, ALDI, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid). My readers will be able to find a complete list of sale and coupon match ups for these stores, plus they’ll be able to select their favorite deals and create a shopping list to print and take to the store with them. I’m really excited about this feature! Also keep an eye out for more frugal living tips and articles, as well as increased local coverage for my Columbus readers.

Cbus Chic: Where can reader go to learn more?

Robison: You can find me on facebook, twitter, and my website at www.stretchingabuckblog.com.
