Namaste Bitches

Marley CM always dabbled in the fine arts, but after graduating college she ended up as a corporate fashion designer. “I needed a creative outlet and I love working with my hands,” Marley explains. Adding, “I started doing yoga as a way to decompress and work through my anxiety. And I just thought: why not paint my mat?!”

So in 2014, Marley began painting mats. For her, painting is a meditative process; one she can kind of get lost in. Then as she started using her painted mat in her yoga practice, it just reminded her of the reasons why she likes herself.

It was in 2016 that she thought about selling her painted mats instead of just working on commission. She set-up a website and started making some other things to sell alongside the mats. And that’s how Marley became the designer and creator of Namaste Bitches

Namaste-Bitches is her line of hand painted yoga mats and yoga accessories. Each mat is one-of-a-kind and seeks to connect to a certain aspect of yoga. The bright colors and patterns offer a reminder of the unique, free spirit that lives in each of us.

“I don’t repeat designs so each one has a specific personality.  I hope that when someone steps on their mat they feel connected to themselves and their power,” Marley says.

Aside from the colorful and unique designs, Marley also wanted the name of her line to mean something too. Which is why she chose: Namaste Bitches.

“I came up with the name because I love yoga and a lot about yoga philosophy. But I have a hard time taking anything too seriously,” Marley explains. Adding, “It [Namaste Bitches] was something that I would say to my yoga friends and it became a sort of a catchphrase. For me, it’s about bonding, feeling a part of a community, and just having fun with life.”

But if it’s not just mats you’re looking for, Marley has you covered.

As of now, she’s also selling a natural yoga mat cleaner made from essential oils and “Namaste Bitches” beanies. The beanies have been pretty popular. “I love showing up and I’m wearing mine and I see my friends are wearing theirs. It makes me feel like I’m a part of a tribe or community, which is what I want everyone to feel like that buys one,” says Marley.

Marley is also brainstorming ideas for headbands and yoga straps too. And she’s made a few bags as gifts. So keep an eye out for more Namaste Bitches gear. She’s also working on a few yoga specific events, but nothing concrete as of yet.

“I have a lot of projects I am juggling at the moment, constantly trying to find a healthy balance with everything. I typically bite off more than I can chew in an effort to make everyone happy. Sometimes it’s successful, but often I just feel drained – so that’s something I’m trying to work on this year!” Marley admits.

But you can keep up with all the Namaste Bitches action with social media. Marley reminds you that, “Instagram is the best place to be up with what’s happening with Namaste-Bitches.”
