On the Fringe of Fashion

Alissa Monnin graduated from The Ohio State University with a fashion design degree in her hand, and a dream to open her own clothing store. After a rough time trying to find a job, she decided to follow her dream, and with support from her husband, she opened Fringe Boutique in historical downtown Powell at 94 W. Olentangy Street.

Fringe Boutique is a women’s clothing and accessories boutique that sells unique clothing, so ladies won’t be spotted wearing the same thing as someone else. Like the store name, Alissa says, “I LOVE fringe! Always have! Anything with fringe, boots, purses, jackets! I love hippie/boho fashion.” Customers can expect to see a lot of fringe, tied in with a bohemian style.

Women of all ages are encouraged to shop at Fringe because the price range is affordable, and what woman doesn’t love affordable, fun fashion? Monnin wanted to own a boutique that would allow women to look beautiful on a budget. Thankfully, customers can find $12 tank tops to $50-$60 maxis to $100+ denim and shoes.

IMG_6943Monnin is thrilled to announce that she will be adding new brands, styles of jewelry and shoes for this fall. She describes what is different in trend this year versus last year saying, “I’ve seen more focus this season on booties, rather than tall boots. I love tall boots, though. They are a definite fall/winter staple, so you can’t go wrong wearing them as well.”

In terms of apparel, she says fur and flannel will be major trends for this fall. Flannels can be worn around the waist or under a simple dress shirt. Fur accents can be seen on clothing, as well as adding fur accessories to many staple pieces. Fashion-minded women can stay warm and look chic while doing so this winter.
