Spotlight: Heart Health Tips

This month is National Stroke Awareness Month. So, we here at Cbus Chic thought it might be a good (and beneficial) idea to ask Dr. Eric Goulder and Dr. Barb McClatchie of the Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center (HASPC) of Central Ohio for some heart health tips. 



The best way to prevent a heart attack or stroke is to be fully tested. That way, you can understand your personal risks and create a customized plan, explains Dr. Goulder. He adds, “under the care of the Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center, patients are guaranteed to not have a heart attack or stroke.”


Beyond that, Dr. Goulder offers his H.E.A.R.T. formula to anyone interested in taking a preventive approach to heart health:


H – Commit to a Healthy Lifestyle
There’s a big difference between being interested in something and being committed. Be committed.


EEat Whole Foods and Eliminate Processed Foods
Whole foods have been processed or refined as little as possible, and are free from additives or other artificial substances.


A – Do Something Active Every Day


RRest Your Body by Getting Plenty of Sleep
On average, adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night.


T – Get Tested to Know Your Genetic Make-up (so you can create your personalized plan)
